Its never too late

Its never too late to start a regular exercise program. A 30 minute daily exertion will make a big difference to the way you look and feel.

Variety is the spice of life

Variety is the spice of life as it is with exercise. Vary your exercise program to work your muscles in different ways. Any form of exercise is good for you.

Over time not Over Night

When starting off do not over exert. Results will be achieved over time not over night.

Warm up and stretch

Always remember to warm up and stretch before and after a workout session as this will help prevent injury during workout and speed up muscle recovery after.

No Pain No Gain

No pain, No gain is a fallacy. Do not exert yourself to point where it becomes painful. Listen to your body and only stretch and workout to your own body limits.

Staying motivated

To stay motivated change your exercise program regularly to keep it new and challenging. Don't let the the boredom set it.

Healthy eating

For a truely healthy body you need a regular exercise program and a well balanced healthy diet. See our tips on healthy eating.

Working harder not longer

Sometimes working harder rather than longer can achieve better results so aim to complete your workout in the recommended time frames

Listen to your body

Listen to your body during any form of exercise and if any discomfort persists seek medical advice

Heavy weights - Bigger muscles?

Correct form and muscle concentration is more beneficial than using heavier weights. Using too heavier weight can do more damage than good

Staying hydrated

During exercise and particularly cardio workouts you will lose body hydration, so remember to drink plenty of water

Breathe through it

To avoid muscle tension breathe deeply and slowly throughout stretches

Don't over do it

As a general rule muscles should be rested for one or two days to allow muscles to rebuild

If in doubt

If you are ever unsure about how to do an exercise, ask an instructor or trainer. Lifting weights incorrectly can cause serious damage

Form over weight

For good body mechanics, go through the complete range of motion, move slowlyand control, breathe and maintain a neutral spine. Never sacrifice form for more weight

Walk before you run

When starting out on an exercise program start off with lighter weights and slowly build on them

Proper form

Proper form when lifting weights will help prevent injuries and make your weight training program more effecient
